Prince George's Community College

Prince George's Community College is a public community college founded in 1958 and located at 301 Largo Road in Largo, Maryland, in the eastern Washington, D.C. suburbs. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolled 11,473 undergraduate students as of fall 2024, with a reported student-to-faculty ratio of 16 to 1. Beyond the Largo main campus, the college operates additional instructional sites including the Laurel College Center, the Skilled Trades Center, and University Town Center. Academic offerings include associate degrees and credit certificates, among them an A.A.S. in Construction Management, alongside a large continuing education division. The Construction and Skilled Trades area offers courses in carpentry, electrical and residential wiring, plumbing, HVAC/R, welding, locksmithing, building maintenance engineering, and stationary engineering, with most programs leading to certification through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) or other trade bodies. Welding coursework includes basic and advanced arc welding plus a testing course that administers the American Welding Society D1.1 Structural Steel Welder Performance Qualification Test. Several trades courses, including Core Construction Skills, Electrical, Carpentry, and daytime HVAC/R Levels 1 and 2, are cross-listed for academic credit. The college also offers Class A and Class B commercial driver's license training and FMCSA entry-level driver training theory through its transportation programs. Continuing education courses are open to the public and do not require formal admission. Tuition is charged per credit hour with separate in-county, Maryland resident, and out-of-state rates.
