Forsyth Technical Community College

Forsyth Technical Community College is a public two-year college founded in 1960 and based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Its main campus sits on Silas Creek Parkway, with transportation and motorsports programs housed at the Transportation Technology Center on North Patterson Avenue and additional instruction delivered at satellite locations across Forsyth and Stokes counties. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and enrolled 9,099 undergraduate students as of fall 2024, roughly 70 percent of them part time. Credit curriculum programs in the skilled trades include Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology; Welding Technology; Electrical Systems Technology; Plumbing; Carpentry; Automotive Systems Technology; Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology; Motorcycle Mechanics Technology; and Race Car Technology. Health and technology offerings include Associate Degree Nursing, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, and IT-Network Management. Most trade programs are structured as stackable certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees, so students can exit with a short-term credential or continue to a two-year degree. Classes run in fall, spring, and summer semesters with day, evening, online, and hybrid options. North Carolina residents pay $76 per credit hour, with tuition capped at 16 credit hours per semester. The college also operates a large non-credit Corporate and Continuing Education division, separate from the credit curriculum, offering workforce training such as a four-week Class A CDL course and a culinary arts course run with Goodwill Industries and Second Harvest Food Bank that covers ServSafe sanitation and includes an internship.
