Emily Griffith Technical College

Emily Griffith Technical College is a public technical college founded in 1916 by educator Emily Griffith. It serves as the postsecondary and adult education arm of Denver Public Schools and is one of three area technical colleges in the Colorado Community College System. The college operates three facilities in downtown Denver: the main campus at 1860 Lincoln Street, a branch campus at 1205 Osage Street, and a multimedia and video production facility at 2101 Arapahoe Street. Emily Griffith offers about 20 career training certificate programs in fields including HVAC, welding, cosmetology, practical nursing, automotive service, culinary arts, and information technology, along with registered apprenticeships, English language acquisition classes, an Adult High School Diploma program, and concurrent enrollment for high school students. Most certificate programs are available full-time or part-time, with day and evening schedules; the HVAC certificate, for example, takes five months full-time or ten months part-time. Applications are free and accepted year-round. The college is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education, and its Practical Nursing program holds separate accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Federal data reports an enrollment of 6,123 undergraduate students, and the college is designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
