Aviation Institute of Maintenance

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) Chicago campus is located at 3711 South Ashland Avenue on Chicago's South Side. The 137,992-square-foot facility includes a 32,000-square-foot hangar housing airframe and powerplant labs, welding and paint rooms, and an avionics laboratory. AIM is a private, for-profit career school accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and approved by the Division of Private Business and Vocational Schools of the Illinois Board of Higher Education. The campus is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration under Part 147 to operate an Aviation Maintenance Technician School. Its core offering is the Aviation Maintenance Technician certificate program, which runs about 21 months for full-time students and prepares graduates to test for FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. Chicago is also the only AIM campus offering the school's 12-month Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning program, which prepares students for the OSHA 30-Hour safety certification and the EPA Section 608 refrigerant credential. Day and evening class schedules are available. Federal IPEDS data lists the campus with 333 students, all in undergraduate certificate programs, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 19 to 1. The hangar displays a replica Tuskegee Airmen "Red Tail" aircraft, and the campus is located within reach of the aviation employers based at O'Hare and Midway International Airports.
