Academy of Hair Design-Las Vegas

Academy of Hair Design is a locally owned, family-operated Las Vegas beauty school that has graduated more than 7,000 students since 1971 from its campus at 5191 W. Charleston Boulevard, and has been accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences since 1976. Four programs lead to Nevada licensure: cosmetology (1,600 hours, about 12 months, $26,950 total including a $2,800 kit with books and a Chromebook), hair design (1,000 hours, $17,850 total), esthetics (600 hours covering skincare, lash, and waxing work, $12,550), and nail technology (600 hours, $11,200), with a $25 application fee and $125 registration fee. Applicants must be at least 17 with a high school diploma or GED. The school enrolled 183 students in fall 2024 at a 14:1 student-instructor ratio and reports an 85% federal graduation rate; its 2023 NACCAS program outcomes show graduation rates of 78-99% and job placement rates of 72-95% by program, with hair design placing highest at 95%. Students gain floor experience in the public student salon, open five days a week including evenings.
